Search for a yacht in Jeddah and you get hourly rates with very little else. What the hour includes varies enormously from one operator to the next, and the gap between the quoted price and what you actually spend is where most people get surprised. Here is how the market works, and how to tell whether renting a whole boat is the right call for your group.
How yacht pricing works in Jeddah
Almost every yacht in Jeddah is rented by the hour, for the vessel, with a minimum of two to four hours. The headline rate usually covers the boat, the captain and the fuel for a defined zone. Food, drinks, water sports equipment, a photographer, decoration and anything served on board are quoted separately or simply not provided.
That model works when you know exactly what you want and you are willing to organise it. It works badly when you assumed the price was all-inclusive, which is why the same evening can end up costing two very different amounts depending on who you booked with.
Whole boat or per seat: the real arithmetic
Renting the whole vessel makes sense above roughly twenty guests, or whenever privacy is the point: a wedding, a corporate evening, a proposal. Below that, you are paying for empty seats. A shared cruise sold per person, all-inclusive, is usually far cheaper for a couple, a family or a group of friends — and you skip the organising entirely.
The honest rule: count your guests. Under ten, book seats. Over twenty, privatise. Between the two, ask for both quotes and compare the per-person total, not the headline rate.

Ask four questions and the picture becomes clear: what exactly is included in the hourly rate, whether the operator is licensed for commercial passenger trips, what happens if the sea is too rough on the day, and whether the price changes if you exceed the zone or the time. An operator who answers all four in writing is an operator you can plan with.
